3-5 Years Old Program

At ECHO, we believe that children are born with abilities and desire to learn. Play is crucial for children’s learning. Our 3-5 years old programs are designed to incorporate academic skills into both guided activities and free play experiences.

The Early Learning Aspect of Our Program

We understand that preschoolers are eager to explore. They make sense of their world through taking initiative, creating new things, taking on new challenges, and asking a lot of “Why?”  Our educators at ECHO foster a sense of purpose by allowing children time to work on things alone, encouraging them to do their best, offering hints and cues when they encounter difficult tasks, and focusing not on the product but the process the children take to accomplish a task.

The Preschool Aspect of Our Program

For a more formal, school-based learning style, we provide a preschool program each morning. We understand that each child has their own learning style. To meet the need of every child, our preschool lessons will take place in a small group setting within our classroom as well as on an individual one on one teaching style. Children become a part of a community of learners where everyone is learning through art, circle, songs, reading, community/friendship, science, gardening, construction, literacy and natural play. The majority of our teaching is set up to learn through play. This makes it fun and educational at the same time.

At Echo, we spend a great deal of time laying out the specific learning centers which will change and adapt with our thematic units as well. When you tour our facility, you can see the variety of fabulous centers that we do have.  For example, when you look around at our science area, take a good look at what the children are doing. The science center doesn’t just have toys it has so many things to touch and learn from. We have fish, turtles, and our gerbil which provide a calming effect when people sit and observe them. Children quickly develop a bond with the animals. Then, they want to learn what they eat, their life cycles, how to care for each species. The water table isn’t just for play, though the children think it is. Through water, the children learn measurements, temperature, buoyancy, as well as sharing, teamwork, and social skills.
